Burritt Rosenwald Schoolhouse
The building was designed to support Burritt on the Mountain’s educational programming, modeled after historic Rosenwald schools. It serves as an interactive learning space for local students, particularly as part of the 4th-grade curriculum, while also remaining accessible to the public for exhibits, workshops, and community events when not in use for school programming.
This project involved constructing a 3,148 sq. ft. replica of a 1920s-era schoolhouse. The structure features strip concrete footings, CMU foundation walls with piers, and Type V wood framing, including floor joists, stud walls, and roof trusses. Interior finishes include reclaimed pine flooring, reclaimed wood beadboard on walls and ceilings, and custom cabinetry.
