A meticulous restoration and renovation of a symbol of Decatur’s rich railroad heritage.
The Historic Decatur Train Depot is a symbol of the city’s rich railroad heritage which extends back to the 1830s. BCA’s award-winning restoration of the depot preserved most of the original architectural elements, including the high ceilings, original doors and windows, wainscoting, and original brick and plaster walls. As a part of this adaptive-reuse project, our team also constructed a wooden train viewing platform and loading dock that houses benches and picnic tables for use by visitors. Today, the Depot serves as a free transportation museum and office space.
