Huntsville, AL

Providence Classical School transformed a Huntsville landmark by renovating and adapting an historic Art Deco school building to meet the needs of a growing school and community while preserving its original design and architectural heritage.

BCA worked closely with the architects to preserve the building’s original character while improving functionality for modern educational needs. Our construction efforts focused on preservation, code compliance, and functional modernization. Working within historic district constraints and a limited site, the project replaced an underperforming auditorium with a 13,600 sq ft multi-use “Gymatorium” designed to provide a regulation gym, stage, restrooms, concessions, storage, and catering kitchen. The scope also included 2,900 sq ft of renovations to the existing structure to ensure continuity in systems and finishes.
